It is a great opportunity to learn new techniques and new technologies and keep yourself ahead of the game.

We are continuing to trial a new events systems, so we'd be keen to hear what you think of it. The events pages will now be on Event Brite. You will be able to see all the details about an event there and register for it. There is also an RSS feed of all Scottish Developer's upcoming events too.

After the talk earlier this month by Paul Cowan on ALT.NET he managed to get a lot of people interested in ASP.NET MVC. There was a real buzz about it after the event as it really grabbed people's attention. I've managed to arrange for Mike Ormond from Microsoft to come up to Scotland and give a talk on the subject. An Introduction to ASP.NET MVC is on 16th October in Edinburgh.

As always, we are on the look out for new speakers.
ASP.NET / C# contract in Windsor

There seems to be lots of opportunity for .NET developers at the moment. Another friend of mine contacted me about a job he has available for any suitable person that is interested. This time it is a contractor position based in Windsor in England and he tells me it is a great place to work.

Skills:

ASP.NET

C# 2.0

SQL Server 2000/2005

Javascript and AJAX experience

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the software lifecycle. Rates are the market rates for the south east of England. The start date is ASAP and the contract will last for 3 months initially.

He's also told me he isn't interested in hearing from recruitment agents, so if you are one, don't annoy him by trying - you won't get anywhere.
